Federal Government Solar Panel Incentives
Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES)
- The SRES provides financial incentives for households installing eligible solar panel systems.
- Under this scheme, systems earn Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), which can be traded for a discount on the installation cost.
- The number of STCs depends on your system’s size and location.
- For example, a 6.6kW system in Queensland might attract a rebate of approximately $2,160 in 2025.
Queensland Government Incentives
1. Feed-in Tariffs
While the Queensland Government’s Solar Bonus Scheme offering a 44 cent per kilowatt-hour feed-in tariff is closed to new applicants, existing participants who maintain eligibility will continue to receive this rate until its expiry on 1 July 2028.
2. Supercharged Solar for Renters Program
This program aims to assist approximately 6,500 renting households in Queensland by enabling landlords to install solar systems, potentially saving renters over $700 per year on electricity bills.
